Yes! It’s all gone 20 miles at Kings Cross!

The sweat and efforts of so many over decades, after multiple accidents, even deaths, have finally resulted in the most significant change in 50 years for the roads of Kings Cross on the 18th. March 2023.

All roads at Kings Cross including the gyratory roads, which has been an urban racing ground since their inception, are finally and ultimately reduced to 20 Miles!

Kings Cross has become safer overnight.

We will leave any comment for now, and just like to say thank you, for listening to the community in the end.

There is of course more to do here on the roads of the gyratory, but for now, just thank you and this gallery of 20 Mile signs for us all to celebrate!

Thanks go out to all campaigners and activists over the years, all political representatives who were on our side, and also, glad to say for once, thank you, to TFL and Mayor Sadiq Khan. – better late than never!

I lived on swinton street from 1999 to too 2022 and I always wanted this change as the race cars on swinton street were disgusting. really happy residents, just wish it would of happened while I lived there. better late than never.

    • Thank You, Edward, one month in, the reality is that overall cars settle somewhere between 20 and 30 miles, some motorbikes still ignore it, but you see far less often cars accelerating above 30 miles, so overall it is slower. We are still watching. But yes it was a long time coming and it took persistent effort, which was hard because of the transient nature of the area. As one of the few permanent residents it came to me to keep a campaign going that once had 1000s. Delaying tactics are part of any government administration. Wait long enough and you get away with doing nothing. I and a few others were resolute to not allow this to happen and had begun to relaunch the coalition that started at the height of air pollution and fatal accidents involving bikes.
