This scrap of land off Frederica Street and Bunning Way opposite Pentonville Prison used to be an awful dump. Grass and mud, covered in rubbish. I hadn't been up there for ages but was delighted to see the extensive make over and some Spring bulbs emerging.

I wonder whether Islington routinely and actively encourages developers who renovate old houses in the borough to instal swift nesting boxes under the eaves of their houses. I am sure many opportunities have been lost and this may account for the diminution of the swift population year after year.
