The huge post office yards about half a mile from kings cross at Mount Pleasant are due for redevelopment. And a lot of the traffic comes through Kings Cross. Mount Pleasant isn’t in our Kings Cross patch, but is close by and generates a lot of local email traffic and interest so here’s some links to further information.
Emily Thornberry raised the issue at Prime Ministers Questions this week. The PM batted it off as it is the Mayors’ responsibility though with a meaningless ‘happy to look at it’. Kings Cross Environment 
Excellent video, why didn’t Frank Dobson get involved, I thought Mount Pleasant was in Camden? I live just up the road in Kings Cross Road. It would have been the ideal site for a local school, the school desperately needed south of the Euston Road, instead of the useless school at Swiss Cottage where the Frank Barnes School had to be “moved” (i.e. kicked out) from Avenue Road.
Yet another ugly, inappropriate development for property investors overseas which will do absolutely nothing for the area or its people. This is what privatisation of public land brings – fortresses for the rich when the local community needs housing and facilities which would have brought much more economic development to the area.

Just a point about the reference to Dobbo above: the borough boundary doesn’t run _all_ the way along the main road (ie Kings Cross Road and Farringdon Road); rather, it loops round to the west of the sorting office. The reason being that it follows an ancient boundary, which itself follows the route of the old Fleet River. And – rivers being what they are, and doing what they do – the Fleet went round that hill rather than over it!
Hence the site is in Islington not Camden [though the “development” affects surrounding areas of Camden too, of course] – which is presumably why it was Emily’s job to ask about it and not Frank’s.
