The people and places that have given Islington its radical reputation in the last 200 years are being celebrated through a guided walk led by local historian and teacher David Rosenberg on Saturday 10th October.

Visionaries, Dissenters and Rebels: a walk thorough Islington’s history takes in 20 stops on its 3-mile route. It recalls sites of protest and details the lives of local residents who strove to change the world.

From struggles for trade unions, educational freedom and women’s rights to the Russian Revolution, Indian independence and South Africa’s fight for liberation , people in Islington have contributed enormously to making radical history.

David Rosenberg, who teaches part-time at Hanover Primary School, has led historical walks of London’s East End for several years. He also coordinates the Islington local2global project in local primary schools, which combines teaching about local history and global citizenship.

Visionaries, Dissenters and Rebels will take place at 11am on Saturday 10th October. The fee is £5 (£3.50 unwaged). The meeting point will be confirmed on booking. Places are limited to 30. To book your place email david@eastendwalks.com
