Free money for local community projects or groups

Treasure Local groups are often short of money – well Councillor Paul Convery tells me that he and his colleagues are offering free money from the Council.  This local community chest money is really handy if your group needs just a few hundred quid for something but you can’t navigate complicated grants processes.  The background to the fund and rationale behind setting the community chest up is here.  Blurb begins:

‘The Council’s West Area committee has established a fund of £64,000 to support small voluntary and community groups in the Caledonian, Holloway, Barnsbury and St Mary wards. The West Area Community Chest will give grants of up to £3,000 for projects that will achive any or all of the following:

– improve the physical environment
– improve local residents’ health and safety
– raise educational achievement outside school
– improve skills and help local residents find work
–  contribute to renewal and regeneration

Applications must be received by 30th September.
