Val and Tony Rees sent me this wonderful sight of a Greater Spotted Woodpecker in their garden on the Cally Road in November (click pic to make it bigger). It’s great to see birds like this in the Kings Cross gyratory. Up here in Bingfield Park things are pretty spartan – i get about 20 crows every morning, the occasional Great Tit and Chaffinch and a pair of Pied Wagtails. Had a woodpecker once a couple of years ago but he never came back.
