Chance to vote by text/online for improvements to walking and cycling routes in Islington

Logo_sustrans Our neighbour from Thornhill Square, Aron C, passed this on – a way you can help support a local initiative to  obtain funds from the National Lottery to further this project.
You can register to vote for National Lottery funds that will pay for new walking and cycling routes in Islington.  Do this by either clicking the following link and entering your name and address in the little blue form on the RHS of the screen  http://www.sustransconnect2.org.uk/schemes/project_detail.php?id=52  ), or texting  ‘Connect2’ to 80010 (only used to text you back a number for voting).
Why bother?
Several projects are competing for a single grant. The winning project will be decided by a public vote  on television in December 2007 – if you register as directed above, you will be updated as to when and how to participate.

Who is behind this application?
The charity behind it is www.sustrans.org.uk
What do they plan to do with the National Lottery money?
To thread a route through the north of the borough, linking together several parks in Islington, to make it easier and more pleasant to cross Islington on foot or by bike. For example,  to make is safer and easier  to cross Highbury corner roundabout.
