Kings Cross Street environment issues

York_way_near_old_school I did one of my regular walks at the weekend in Kings Cross and reported a range of street environment issues.  Contact Islington (who are now getting better at handling email it seems sent the response below.  Street problem fetishists can see pictures at this link.

On a related point, the Islington West Area Committee last night took a report on neighbourhood management in North Kings Cross.  The current expensive and highly disputed arrangements are being replaced.  While this happens i was able to secure agreement that admin support for the North Kings Cross Environmental Task Group continues.  This is a silly name for a couple of residents who sit down with a range of agencies who are responsible for street issues (housing environment, parks, bins, ICSL etc) and thrash out solutions to tricky local problems.  It works and I am pleased that the Council will continue to support it.

Some stuff I’m trying to get fixed and chasing:
    > Most of the street lighting not working in Caledonia St. Chasing via Anne Lewis at the street lighting team.
    > Broken railings on Pentonville Rd near corner of York Way. Although it’s Transport for London’s responsibility, Chris Demetriou from Islington council is helping. (Area looks like a toilet 😦

ALSO, the undeveloped land to the North of Railway St has recently been used by ‘ladies’ and their ‘clients’. They gained access because P&O (Who own the land) have not properly secured the site. I’m chasing and hassling P&O to get a proper fix but if anyone sees anything dodgy let me know.

I wondered if anyone knew why Islington Council instead of replacing one of damaged rather beautiful ornamental trees in Caledonia Street next to the hotel, has just filled in the pavement?
