People with long memeories will recall that the walk-through into the Bemerton Estate off Carnoustie Drive next to the Under-Fives Centre opposite Freeling Street used to be full of bored/hanging about/intimidating local youths. They would smash the old lights and lurk in the dark. The Council did a good job funding some very heavy duty lights under the very good ‘Safer Routes to Public Transport’ scheme. Former Cllr Arnie Gibbons chased this hard. Combined with other measures, the kids went away and the area was much nicer, brighter and safer to walk through. Unfortunately the lights near the entrance to 61-72 Stranraer Way have now both been broken. Will try to get them fixed.
